The area surrounding the University of Texas at Austin is at the forefront of a massive boom in luxury student housing, setting a new standard for campus life. Union on 24th is a prime example of this trend, and we were excited to shape the high-end outdoor amenity spaces for this community and the students who would be living there. Working with TBG Partners, the landscape architect, and developer Greystar, we tackled a project that allowed us to incorporate many sought-after amenities for the students to use.

Our detailed scope began on Level One, where we installed all concrete and pavers, laying a solid foundation for the ground-level social spaces. We enhanced this area with planters, benches, and stylish barstools.

On Level Four, we transformed the area into a vibrant recreational zone. This included installing pavers, elevated turf, turf on hills and flat spaces, and a dedicated dog park. We also added swings, fitness equipment, planters, and benches.

The most unique aspects came to life on Level 29: We installed all pavers and tile on pedestals, utilizing a lockdown system to account for wind speeds at this height. This involved using grating with weights under each paver, and for the tile sections, plastic grates with weights and adhesives, glued to keep everything secure. Beyond the flooring, we installed six complete outdoor kitchens, each of which included cabinets, BBQ pits, doors, and sinks. We also laid all pavers around the pool area and added a wooden drink rail.

Union on 24th, open for the next generation of Longhorns, offers high-rise outdoor environments to relax and unwind after classes. We're proud to have delivered such a detailed and sophisticated amenity package that will benefit students for decades to come.
