For the past several years, B&D has partnered with The Hanover Company on several different projects: The Hanover Post Oak, The Hanover Rice Village, The Hanover Montrose, and The Hanover South Hampton. While each of these projects included similar scopes of work for landscape installation, water features and hardscape construction, the creative execution differed. B&D was responsible for not only the ground level landscape construction, but also the amenity decks including the installation of site furnishings, the building of pergolas, intricate stonework and the installation of trees many stories above street level.

Originally built in 1923, La Colombe d’Or is a historic luxury boutique hotel located in the Montrose District in Houston. The Hines Group and Zimmerman family took part in a hybrid property opportunity: a 34-story residential high-rise and a $10 million renovation to the historic hotel.

On the ground level, the landscaping features beautiful courtyards, patios, a fountain, a bocce ball court, a dog park, and a 14,000 square-foot private park. Our team undertook the subdrainage, irrigation, installation of the planting, site furnishings, and decorative walkways. To meet the hardscape requirements, our team installed the driveways, sidewalks, pavers, patios, and architectural concretes. A beautiful custom-built fountain was also installed on the property.

B&D had the opportunity to bring life to the 10th floor amenity deck, which features a resort-style pool, lounge areas with a complimentary coffee bar, an outdoor kitchen with private dining areas, and even a gym, and spa-like relaxation zone.

The location of the 10th floor amenity deck presented some complex challenges for our team. A crane was used to transport 180 tons of soil onto the level 10 deck. The crane could only hold one ton at a time, so you can calculate how many times we moved that crane! The crane was also utilized to move concrete, and three 20-foot tall palm trees.



Through the precise execution of creativity, we crafted a beautiful space to be enjoyed by the future residents and guests of La Colombe d’Or for years to come.
