Following the opening of the new headquarters for Castle Biosciences, our team completed a massive, ground-up landscape and hardscape package designed to give the research and development facility a campus-like outdoor environment.

Over a five-month construction window in 2025, we installed a full landscape package that included native Texas shrubs, ground cover, and close to 400 native trees around the primary detention pond area. Our crews carefully installed all-native varieties, planting Live Oaks, Red Oaks, Redbuds, Pine trees, and Magnolias. To create a low-maintenance, biodiverse footprint across the property, we also seeded roughly 200,000 square feet of native Texas wildflower mix that expands across the fields and wetland zones surrounding the campus.

Beyond the heavy planting layout, we constructed functional hardscape spaces for employees to Think Outside and step away from the office. We built out a dedicated patio deck, put in a decorative pond feature, and installed multiple site furnishings, including tables, chairs, benches, bike racks, and waste receptacles. Wrapping around the entire detention pond area, we laid down a decomposed granite pedestrian walkway to form a continuous trail for the campus. Behind the scenes, we also installed drainage and irrigation to protect the plant life over time.

Meeting a condensed schedule on this project was our biggest challenge, but our field crews regularly pulled extra hours and put in weekend shifts to keep the project moving forward. We had a great experience working alongside SWA and O'Donnell-Snider Construction, who remained highly supportive of our scheduling efforts from day one, resulting in a durable corporate campus we are incredibly proud to deliver.
